Roger Williams Park & Zoo
Roger Williams Park Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in the United States, opened in 1872 and set within the 435-acre Roger Williams Park on the Cranston-Providence border. The zoo houses more than 100 species across naturalistic habitats, including a Marco Polo sheep exhibit, a Madagascar exhibit, and a popular carousel and botanical center within the park grounds. It draws roughly 600,000 visitors annually and is a top destination for school field trips, family outings, and private events across Rhode Island.
Charter buses and minibuses drop off at the main entrance off Elmwood Avenue, and the park's wide internal roads accommodate large vehicles comfortably. For group arrivals, zoo security directs buses to the main entrance plaza for passenger drop-off and then to a designated on-grounds parking location, keeping the class together from curb to gate.
